Alpa’s $3.5m round bets restaurant groups want a weekly P&L
Alpa has raised $3.5m to turn restaurant till, bank and supplier data into a live profit and loss account. But for now its backing rests on its founders’ track record more than its customer list

On 26 February, London-based Alpa said it had raised $3.5m (£2.6m) in a pre-seed round led by Daphni. True Capital, 2100 Ventures, Firedrop, Oprtrs Club, Kima Ventures and Sonorcap also invested, according to Tech.eu, alongside angels including Voodoo founder Alexandre Yazdi and Jérôme Tafani, a former chief executive of Burger King France and former CFO of McDonald’s Europe, who has joined the board.
Alpa sells a financial platform to restaurant operators. It pulls point-of-sale data, bank transactions and supplier invoices into a live profit and loss account, so a group can see its margins during the month rather than weeks after the books close. “Hospitality runs on thin margins, but financial visibility still operates on monthly cycles,” co-founder and chief executive Anton Soulier said in a statement carried by Tech.eu.
The round is the company’s first, so $3.5m is its total funding to date, Soulier told Tech Funding News. He said the valuation was undisclosed at this stage.
Alpa is pitching the P&L as a tool for running restaurants week to week, not a document the accountant produces once a month. At this stage the backing reflects the founders’ record in restaurants and engineering more than a customer base: at the time of the raise Alpa had four staff and had named one pilot user.
The operator behind the round
Soulier began his career at KPMG and joined Deliveroo as one of its first 10 employees, according to Alpa’s website. He told Tech Funding News he was employee number seven and spent three years launching Deliveroo in France. In 2017 he founded Taster, a creator-led restaurant chain behind brands including Pepe Chicken, Starsmash, Out Fry and SpudBros Express. He said Taster was active in more than 100 European cities and had raised over $60m (£44m).
Alpa’s site says Soulier co-founded the company to solve the financial problems he had met first-hand while scaling restaurant brands. His co-founder and CTO, Jean-François Moy, previously led engineering at Vestiaire Collective and was CTO at Cloudshelf and Ksubaka, the site says. The two met in 2024.
Alpacap Limited, the company that trades as Alpa, was incorporated on 13 August 2024, Companies House records show. Soulier is listed as holding more than half of its shares. Tafani and Pierre-Eric Leibovici, co-founder and managing partner of Daphni, have been directors since 13 June 2025.
A weekly P&L at £79 a site
The product connects to a business bank account through open banking, to more than 20 point-of-sale systems and to supplier invoices, which it reads with optical character recognition. Alpa says it classifies transactions with AI and produces weekly flash P&Ls, spend by supplier with alerts, and budget and forecast tracking. Its Growth plan was listed at £79 a month per location. A Scale plan, priced on request, is aimed at international chains and franchises and adds multi-location reporting and access controls.
The company says onboarding takes about 30 minutes, bank data appears straight away and profit and margin reports follow within seven days, once till and invoice data have synced. Bank data comes through Plaid: Alpacap acts as an agent of Plaid Financial for regulated account information services, according to its website.
Alpa does not replace accounting software. Its site says it works alongside the accountant and the bookkeeping tools, which handle compliance and historical reporting, while Alpa reports performance and margin to the people running the sites. Soulier’s statement put it the same way, describing an operational financial layer that accounting systems lack.
The new money goes mainly on engineering and product, Tech.eu reports: financial data infrastructure, direct supplier integrations, automation and AI-driven classification. Moy said in a statement carried by Tech Funding News that the advantage lies not only in access to data but in native connections to tills, banks and food and beverage suppliers.
Who has signed up so far
Tech Funding News reports that early pilots include SpudBros Express, one of Taster’s own brands and the only user named so far. Soulier told the outlet the platform was already live with a number of users, without giving a figure.
Alpa’s site credits Tafani with decades of experience in franchise businesses. Leibovici said in a statement carried by Tech Funding News that founding pairs with this depth of industry expertise and technical know-how are rare, and that he expects Alpa to make a notable impact for restaurants and franchise owners across the continent.
Many restaurant groups only get a clear view of profitability weeks after month-end, Tech.eu notes. Alpa’s pitch is to close that gap at £79 a site, and its one named pilot sits inside Soulier’s own restaurant business. With $3.5m going mainly on engineering and product and four people to spend it, the company now has to show that groups with no tie to Taster will connect their bank feeds and pay for a weekly P&L.
