How to report an error, how we fix it and every significant correction we have made
We work hard to get things right. When we don’t, we correct the article and say that we have. This page explains how corrections work and lists every significant correction we have published.
How to report an error
Email editor@vettdd.com with a link to the article, what you believe is wrong and any evidence that helps us check. You don’t need to be named in the article to report an error.
We aim to acknowledge every report within two working days, and to correct confirmed errors as soon as we have checked them.
How we correct
- Significant errors, such as a wrong fact, figure, name, job title or quote, or anything that changes the meaning of the story, are corrected in the article and a dated correction note is added at the end of it saying what was wrong. The article also appears in the log below.
- Minor errors that don’t change the meaning, such as spelling, typos and formatting, are fixed without a note.
- Updates that add new information after publication, rather than fixing a mistake, are marked as updates in the article.
We don’t delete articles to hide mistakes. We remove or rewrite published material only in exceptional cases, for example for legal reasons or to protect someone’s safety, and we say so when we do.
If you’re not satisfied
If you disagree with how we have handled a correction, reply to our email and the editor, Jay Janes, will review it personally.
