Wrong · 0%The new Equiano cable will be activated by the end of 2022, followed by the expansive 2Africa cable the following year.Infrastructure & Telecoms · made Oct 2022 · due Dec 2023

What happened. 2Africa was not activated in 2023: in January 2024 Mauldin wrote that a large length in Yemeni waters had yet to be laid. TeleGeography's map gives a 2024 ready-for-service date (first segments), and Meta announced the core system completed and activated in November 2025. Year call for 2023. First service came in 2024 (one year off, Half right); if 'activated' means the whole system, completion in Nov 2025 is two years off and would be Wrong. Scored on first activation, as for Equiano; flagged for Jay. Sources: submarinecablemap.com, resources.telegeography.com, connectingafrica.com.

Wrong · 0%The new Equiano cable will be activated by the end of 2022, followed by the expansive 2Africa cable the following year.Infrastructure & Telecoms · made Oct 2022 · due Dec 2022

What happened. Equiano was not activated in 2022. TeleGeography's own Submarine Cable Map lists its ready-for-service date as February 2023, and Seacom announced services on the cable from 15 March 2023. Year call for 2022; the cable entered service in early 2023, one year off, so Half right under the year-call ruling. Sources: submarinecablemap.com, connectingafrica.com.
