OneAdvanced names CUBE's Emma Brown CFO as its IQ platform rolls out

The Birmingham-based vertical SaaS company turns to a private equity-backed software finance chief as it moves from rebuilding core systems to scaling its AI workflow platform

The facts
  • Appointment: Emma Brown, chief financial officer, OneAdvanced
  • Predecessor: Stephen Dews, CFO since February 2023
  • Previous role: group CFO and board director, CUBE
  • Earlier CFO and board roles: Medius, Talkwalker, Smartways Logistics and MedicalDirector
  • Remit: financial and commercial strategy, including the IQ rollout
What the move signals

Choosing a finance chief from private equity-backed software, with deal experience behind her, points to a company that expects to grow by acquisition as well as by selling its platform. The CFO seat is likely to center on showing that AI sold into regulated, public-facing services earns back the spend behind it.

“My focus will be on making sure we invest in the opportunities that create lasting value for customers and apply financial discipline and operational excellence to deliver them.”Emma Brown, chief financial officer, OneAdvanced

OneAdvanced named Emma Brown chief financial officer on 26 October 2026, replacing Stephen Dews, who had held the post since February 2023. The Birmingham-based software-as-a-service company is now pushing IQ, the AI platform it launched in April, across the sectors it sells into.

Chief executive Simon Walsh said the company had put “hundreds of millions” of capital into modernizing its core systems over the past few years, and that Brown’s record would be “invaluable as we invest further in IQ and scale it across every sector we serve”. He thanked Dews for his work.

OneAdvanced calls IQ an ‘intelligent system of work’: one platform that brings processes, data, policies and AI together for regulated and essential-service sectors. The company’s software runs in health and care, housing, education, legal, passenger transport and logistics, among other markets.

Brown has worked in private equity-backed businesses for more than 15 years. OneAdvanced pointed to her record in growth, acquisitions and operational transformation, including at the healthcare software company MedicalDirector and, most recently, at CUBE, where she sat on the board.
