Hyperlayer raises £19.5m as Flintlock leads its round again
The London-based banking technology company, founded by two former Morgan Stanley colleagues in 2023, says it already holds mandates with global Tier 1 banks, none of which it has named
- Founded: 2023, by former Morgan Stanley colleagues Rob Rooney and Paul Rolles
- Rooney spent more than 30 years at Morgan Stanley, including as chief executive of Morgan Stanley International
- Previous round: £30m in October 2025, led by CDAM
- Expansion targets: the US, Europe and Asia-Pacific
- Louise Chan moves from chief operating officer to chief commercial officer, and Ben Helps from chief strategy officer to chief operating officer
Because Hyperlayer sells to banks, finance teams at smaller companies would meet its software as new account, rewards or cash tools offered by the bank they already use, not as a new supplier to sign up. Money for implementation staff goes at the bank-side integration work that decides when any such product reaches a business customer.
With an existing shareholder leading again, no new lead investor priced this round.
“We're fortunate to be backed by deep experts in fintech. They've watched us go from a standing start to mandates with global Tier 1 banks in three years. That's what's convinced them to back where the company goes next.”Rob Rooney, co-founder and chief executive, Hyperlayer
Hyperlayer, a London-based banking technology company, announced on 21 October that it has raised £19.5m in a Series A2 round led by Flintlock Capital, an existing investor. The round values the company at £195m post-money, Hyperlayer says.
Mouro Capital, Susquehanna Private Equity Investments and other existing and new investors also took part. Flintlock and Mouro first invested in October 2025, when Hyperlayer raised its previous round, and the company says its total funding since then is nearly £50m.
Hyperlayer sells software that sits on top of a bank’s existing core systems, so lenders can launch products such as programmable accounts, rewards and wealth tools without replacing those systems. The company says its technology serves banks, wealth and asset managers, merchants, small businesses and consumers, and it built the platform behind HyperJar, a consumer money app.
The money goes on product, engineering and implementation teams and on expansion, the company says. Joe Shamess, co-founder and general partner at Flintlock Capital, joins the board. Shamess said in the release that banks, credit unions and other financial institutions have to move faster without removing the core systems that protect them, and that Flintlock was doubling down by leading the round.
