London market maker LO:TECH raises $12m to open in New York and Singapore
MMC leads the Series A in a firm that trades crypto and tokenized assets around the clock. It is betting that tokenized shares keep gaining ground on speculative tokens
- Round: $12m Series A, led by MMC Ventures
- Other investors: Faction, 13 Books Capital and Atka
- Founders: Tim Meggs (CEO), Marcus Horsley (CTO) and Alex Williams
- Clients: more than 50 institutions across market making, market data and execution, according to the company
Platforms that list tokenized shares or run round-the-clock trading need firms that will quote prices when traditional exchanges are shut. The round gives a London-based specialist the capital to bid for that work in American and Asian trading hours, where larger trading firms already operate. Fintechs choosing a liquidity partner gain another option whose team comes from both crypto and traditional markets.
“Capital markets were built for a world that opened at 8am and closed at 4.30pm. That’s not how risk is traded any more”Tim Meggs, CEO and co-founder, LO:TECH
LO:TECH, a London-based crypto market maker, said on 2 November that it has raised $12m (£8.9m) in a Series A round led by MMC Ventures. Existing backers Faction and 13 Books Capital took part, alongside Atka.
The money will pay for offices in New York and Singapore and a larger execution business for institutional clients. That service, launched the same day, uses the firm’s access to many trading venues to carry out client orders across traditional, digital and prediction markets. The company says it plans to become regulated in each market it enters and is exploring licenses in the US. It told CoinDesk that the new service “falls within our existing activities” of proprietary trading and liquidity provision, and that it will not offer regulated services before approval.
Tim Meggs, Marcus Horsley and Alex Williams founded the firm in 2023. It raised a $5m seed round led by 13 Books Capital in August 2025 and makes markets on venues including Hyperliquid, Binance, Bybit and OKX, as first reported by CoinDesk. MMC partner Ollie Richards credits the team with triple-digit revenue growth over the past year.
The company ties the round to a shift in where trading money is going. Total crypto market value fell by about half in the year to June 2026, while tokenized real-world assets on public blockchains rose from about $20.6bn to $38bn over a similar period, according to RWA.xyz figures cited in the release.
