Leadership

Anthony Collins Solicitors describes itself as a social purpose law firm. Its organizational clients work in housing, local government, health and social care, social business and charities, and it also acts for individuals and families, including in family, clinical negligence and personal injury cases. It works from offices in Birmingham, Macclesfield, Manchester and Wolverhampton.

Matthew Wort is senior partner. He signs the senior partner’s review in the firm’s annual accounts and leads its employment and pensions team.

Turnover up 6% to £30.2m

Revenue grew 6% to £30.2m in the year to 30 April 2025, from £28.5m, according to the senior partner’s review in the accounts Anthony Collins Solicitors LLP filed at Companies House in January 2026. The average number of employees, excluding members, rose from 305 to 315, and the average number of members from 40 to 43. Including members, the firm had 220 fee earners and 138 support staff. The firm put its workforce at 389 when it announced the results in December 2025.

The review sets out what the year’s work involved: the firm raised £900m on behalf of clients to fund 3,300 affordable homes, supported more than 3,490 clients and spent 23,000 hours on legal aid matters. It opened a childcare hub in Wolverhampton in September 2024 to support families in complex childcare proceedings, and launched an apprenticeship scheme and a social mobility recruitment tool. Its Strategy 2030 sets an ambition to double the firm’s social impact over five years.

A B Corp score above 100

Anthony Collins was recertified as a B Corp in December 2025 with a score of 101.5, up from 81.9 in 2022, the firm said. “For us, being a B Corp is more than an accreditation – it’s a reinforcement of our commitment to being a purpose led organisation,” Wort said.

Ranked in 12 Chambers categories

In the Chambers UK 2026 guide the firm holds Band 1 rankings in clinical negligence and personal injury (both mainly claimant, Midlands), family and matrimonial (West Midlands) and social housing (West Midlands), and is ranked in eight further categories including local government, charities and social housing finance. Three lawyers were ranked individually for the first time, taking its total to 28, according to the firm. It made four partner appointments in its last financial year, two by promotion and two from outside the firm.
