Digby Brown acts for people injured on the road, at work, abroad and through clinical negligence, and for families after fatal accidents. It describes itself as Scotland’s largest personal injury firm and says it has been helping clients for more than 110 years. It works from seven offices in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Dundee, Inverness, Kirkcaldy, Aberdeen and Ayr, with its registered office in Edinburgh, and funds cases through its own no-win, no-fee company, Compensate.
Fraser Oliver leads the firm as chief executive. Digby Brown LLP was incorporated in 2008 and had an average of 38 members in the year to March 2025, up from 33, according to its accounts at Companies House.
Growth in the filed accounts
Group turnover rose 15% from £46.7m to £53.8m in the year to 31 March 2025, according to those accounts. Operating profit rose from £21.7m to £26.2m. The LLP employed an average of 261 professional and administrative staff, against 258 a year earlier, and staff costs rose from £13.7m to £15.7m.
The firm has reported a stronger year since. In May 2026 it said revenue for 2025–26 was more than £60m and that it had recovered a record £215m in damages for clients. It gave its headcount as 362 people, 228 in legal roles and 134 in business roles. Four new partners and 10 other legal promotions took effect on 1 July 2026.
“The latest appointments are a testament to the continued growth of our business and the development of our people,” Oliver said when the promotions were announced.
Standing in personal injury
Chambers UK ranks Digby Brown in Band 1 for personal injury (mainly claimant) in Scotland, and the firm says Legal 500 also ranks it top in the field. According to its website, it has won Firm of the Year at the Scottish Legal Awards, most recently in 2022, and Litigation Team of the Year in 2021 and 2024. It holds Platinum accreditation from Investors in People, renewed for a fourth time, and a Sunday Times Best Places to Work award, the firm said in May 2026.
Its practice covers road traffic, workplace, serious injury, industrial disease, product liability, criminal injury and clinical negligence claims. For injured people and bereaved families outside the central belt, the office network puts claimant lawyers in Inverness, Aberdeen, Dundee, Kirkcaldy and Ayr as well as the two largest cities.
The accounts describe the principal activity of the group as litigation legal services, provided from those seven offices.
