Leadership

Excello Law is a consultancy-model law firm. Its lawyers are experienced, self-employed practitioners who run their own client work on a fee-share basis, supported by a central team that provides technology, compliance, onboarding and business services. It advises businesses and individuals on corporate and commercial work, employment, dispute resolution, real estate, insolvency, charities, family and private client matters.

George Bisnought founded the firm in 2009 and leads it as founder and chief executive. Jo Losty is chief operating officer. Companies House lists the two as the people with significant control of Excello Law Limited. The firm has been licensed as an alternative business structure (ABS) since 2013 and is regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority.

Turnover up 23% in a year

Group turnover rose from £24.1m to £29.6m in the year to 30 June 2025, according to the consolidated accounts Excello Law Limited filed at Companies House in March 2026. The average number of people the group employed, including three directors, rose from 59 to 83.

Those employees are the support platform, not the fee earners. In a results announcement covering the same year, the firm said it had 270 lawyers worldwide in October 2025, including 216 partners, and that turnover had grown 170% since 2022. It said it was not funded by private equity, and that it had entered The Lawyer Top 200 at 134th.

Offices and brands

Excello has added offices steadily since its first in Chancery Lane in 2014: Leeds in 2015, the City of London and Chester in 2017, Birmingham in 2019, Manchester in 2020, Leicester in 2021, Stoke-on-Trent in 2022 and Nottingham in 2023, according to its website. It also lists offices in Belfast, Dubai and California.

Alongside the Excello name, the firm runs a House of Brands, under which teams practice under their own brand on Excello’s platform. In 2026 it added Hestia Private Client, a four-lawyer team serving high-net-worth individuals and families. In 2026 the firm also appointed Sarah James as its first chief financial officer, said its business services team had grown 20% to 68 people, and hired partners in corporate, litigation and property disputes.

Ranked across seven practice areas

In the Legal 500 UK 2027 guide, Excello is ranked in seven practice areas, from commercial litigation and employment to family, charities and real estate, and the firm says a record 24 of its lawyers received individual rankings, six of them as Leading Partners. Earlier recognition includes ABS of the Year at the Modern Law Awards 2017.
