Fladgate is a London law firm that advises businesses, investors, entrepreneurs and private clients from a single office in Covent Garden. Its practice groups cover private capital, corporate, banking and finance, funds, real estate, tax, employment, private client and family work, and dispute resolution, including commercial litigation, civil fraud and international arbitration.

The firm traces its history to 1760, when George Stubbs set up a sole practice, according to the timeline on its website. It marked its 250th anniversary by moving to Great Queen Street, where it is still based, and describes itself as “one firm, one office in Covent Garden”. Fladgate LLP was incorporated as a limited liability partnership in January 2008.

One partnership, one managing partner

Grant Gordon is managing partner. His profile on the firm’s website says he is responsible for developing and carrying out the firm’s overall strategy and its partner recruitment objectives. He is a designated member of the LLP and signed the members’ report in its 2025 accounts on the members’ behalf.

Companies House filings list new members appointed to the LLP in February, April, May, September and October 2026.

Turnover up 18% in a year

Group turnover rose from £75.4m to £88.8m in the year to 31 March 2025, according to the consolidated accounts Fladgate LLP filed at Companies House in November 2025. Operating profit rose from £37.5m to £45.6m, and profit before tax from £38.6m to £46.9m.

The average number of people employed, excluding members, rose from 232 to 240 over the same period: 132 fee earners and 108 support staff. Staff costs rose from £19.6m to £21.5m.

A single office at scale

Fladgate keeps its lawyers and support teams in one building, which puts corporate, real estate, disputes and private wealth specialists under one roof for clients whose business and personal affairs overlap, such as founders, family offices and investors. Its website lists 18 sectors, from fintech and insurance to media, sport and esports.

The firm’s next accounts, for the year to 31 March 2026, are due at Companies House by 31 December 2026.
