Keystone Law is a platform law firm for business and private clients. It recruits experienced lawyers, most of them from mid-market firms, as self-employed principals who own their client relationships and decide how, when and where they work. The central office in London supplies the infrastructure: a proprietary IT platform, compliance, marketing and a network of colleagues. Principals earn up to 75% of the fees they bill, 60% for doing the work and 15% for introducing the client, according to the firm’s annual report.
Founded in 2002, the firm is led by chief executive James Knight. Its parent, Keystone Law Group plc, is listed on AIM, and the firm links to practices in Australia, Africa, the Isle of Man, Northern Ireland, the Middle East, Greece and Germany.
Revenue and lawyers in the latest accounts
Revenue rose from £97.7m to £115.2m in the year to 31 January 2026, an increase of 18%, according to the group’s annual report and accounts at Companies House. Adjusted profit before tax rose from £12.7m to £15.3m and cash from operations from £11.6m to £13.5m. Revenue has grown every year since the £71.2m reported for 2022.
The number of lawyers grew from 576 in January 2025 to 654 a year later, made up of 163 principals and 491 other fee earners. The lawyers are self-employed, so the employed group is small: the average number of people employed, including directors, rose from 82 to 98, of whom 81 work in administration and support.
Rankings and recognition
In July 2026 the firm said 19 of its lawyers had been recognized in the Chambers High Net Worth Guide 2026, in rankings including high-value residential real estate in London, high-net-worth family and matrimonial finance, private wealth law in London and Brighton, and private wealth disputes in the South. Keystone was named Law Firm of the Year at The Lawyer Awards 2020 and won the outstanding marketing, PR and communications innovation award from Law.com in 2025, according to its awards list.
For clients, the model offers senior lawyers across commercial and private client work without the cost base of a conventional firm. The group puts its addressable market at more than £14bn and had 654 lawyers on the platform at January 2026.
