Leadership

Kuits is a Manchester commercial law firm, established in 1909, that advises businesses, business owners and private clients across the North West and further afield. The firm says it has particular expertise in advising SMEs, financial institutions, real estate investors and listed companies, with sector work in healthcare, care homes, leisure and hospitality, hotels, fashion, sport and charities. Its practice areas run from corporate, commercial property and employment law to dispute resolution, restructuring and insolvency, family law and serious tax investigations. The firm trades from one office, at Blackfriars House on Parsonage in Manchester city center, and operates through Kuit Steinart Levy LLP.

Steve Eccleston is managing partner, responsible for the firm’s internal management. Robert Levy is executive partner.

A 20% rise in turnover

Turnover rose 20% from £15.9m to £19m in the year to April 2025, according to the LLP’s accounts at Companies House. Average staff, excluding members, rose from 167 to 174: 97 fee earners and 77 administration staff. The average number of members rose from 33 to 37.

In the Legal 500 UK 2026 the firm’s licensing and private client teams kept their Tier 1 rankings, and the firm said in October 2025 that it had secured rankings across all its principal practice areas. “The success of Kuits is built on our commitment to looking after our business, our people, and our clients,” Eccleston said at the time.

More room at Blackfriars House

In May 2026 Kuits announced that it had doubled its office footprint at Blackfriars House, where it has been based for close to 10 years, to 22,000 sq ft on a 10-year commitment. The building, part of Bruntwood SciTech’s portfolio, had been through a £1.4m refurbishment. The new space adds collaboration areas and a new client area.

Eccleston said the firm had “seen an uptick in new national and international clients wanting a Manchester firm with local knowledge”. The firm holds the Lexcel accreditation and the Law Society’s Conveyancing Quality Scheme mark, and is a Greater Manchester Good Employment Charter supporter.
