Leadership

Lindsays is a Scottish law firm for individuals and families, businesses, charities and rural clients. It works from five offices in Edinburgh, Glasgow, Dundee, Perth and Crieff. The firm says it has been in practice for more than 200 years and has grown from two partners to more than 60.

Andrew Diamond has been managing partner since 2025. He joined Lindsays in 2012 through its merger with MacLachlan & MacKenzie.

Built through mergers

Much of the firm’s growth has come from combining with other Scottish practices. Lindsays moved into Glasgow in 2008 through a merger with Kidstons, then joined with Shield & Kyd and MacLachlan & MacKenzie in 2012, RSB Macdonald in 2015, Aitken Nairn in 2018, Hadden Rankin in 2019 and Miller Hendry in 2023.

On 1 September 2026 it completed a merger with the Glasgow firm Dallas McMillan, the first under Diamond. More than 40 people joined, taking the Glasgow city center team from 80 to more than 120, and the firm said it now has more than 420 people across its five offices. David McElroy, formerly managing partner of Dallas McMillan, became a partner at Lindsays.

Turnover up 9% to March 2026

Turnover rose from £27.5m to £29.9m in the year to 31 March 2026, according to Lindsays LLP’s accounts at Companies House, and profit before members’ remuneration rose from £9.4m to £9.7m. The average number of employees, excluding members, was 322: 159 fee earners and 163 other staff. The LLP had an average of 54 members, up from 52.

The firm continues to bring in new lawyers. In August 2026 it welcomed six trainees and eight newly qualified solicitors, and on 1 October 2026 it announced six promotions. Its website carries a Legal 500 Leading Firm badge.

For families, landowners and owner-managed businesses from Glasgow to Dundee, Lindsays offers private client, property and business law from one partnership. Its wages and salaries bill reached £11.5m in the year to March 2026.
