mfg Solicitors is a Midlands law firm with its registered office in Kidderminster and offices in Birmingham, Brierley Hill, Bromsgrove, Ludlow, Telford and Worcester. It organizes its work around three client groups: businesses, which it advises on corporate work, commercial litigation, employment, insolvency and real estate finance; rural clients, for whom it handles agricultural tenancies, rural business structures, common land and rural disputes; and individuals, for wills, probate, lasting powers of attorney, family law and residential property. Its sector teams cover renewables, food and drink, healthcare and utilities.
The firm says it can trace its history back to 1556 and describes itself as probably one of the oldest law firms in the country. The current partnership, mfg Solicitors LLP, was incorporated in January 2006.
Andrew Davies leads the firm as managing director alongside his role as a partner in the residential property division, working from the Telford office. A Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives, he is one of five designated members of the LLP.
Growth in the latest accounts
Turnover rose 16% from £17.0m to £19.8m in the year to April 2026, according to the group accounts filed at Companies House in August 2026, and profit before members’ remuneration grew from £7.36m to £8.29m. The average number of people employed, including members on employment contracts, rose from 197 to 217, with fee earners up from 80 to 86 and administrative staff from 117 to 131. The LLP had 41 members on average.
Staff salaries rose from £5.7m to £6.5m over the same period. The firm says it now employs more than 260 people across its seven offices.
Investing in the Black Country
mfg opened at The Waterfront in Brierley Hill about a year before announcing, in September 2026, a move to a larger office at Custom House in the same development. Its Black Country team is led by partners Tim Lang, Sarah Bradford and Philip Chapman, covering employment, real estate and corporate work. The firm is a finalist for Professional Service Business of the Year at the 2026 Black Country Chamber of Commerce Business Awards.
“Our move to Custom House is a clear statement of intent and demonstrates our confidence in the region’s future,” Lang said.
The firm also trains its own lawyers. Seven trainee solicitors began two-year training contracts in September 2026, supervised by partners Tom Esler and Sam Pedley.
