Spencer West

Spencer West is a law firm headquartered at Longbow House on Chiswell Street in the City of London. Its main practice is in England and Wales, through Spencer West LLP, and it operates in 24 jurisdictions in all. Its group strategic report describes it as a distributed law firm: senior lawyers, typically at least eight years qualified, join as consultants, bring their clients with them and are paid a share of the fees they invoice and collect, plus origination fees for work they bring in that others carry out.

Simeon Spencer and Antoine West, two London lawyers, founded the firm in 2010 as a two-partner practice. West is managing partner and Spencer is senior partner, and they lead a management team of more than 30 people that includes chief operating officer Kate Robottom.

From two partners to more than 370

The firm now has more than 370 partners worldwide, according to the strategic report in the group accounts of Spencer West Global Limited for the year to 31 March 2026, filed at Companies House in September 2026. Group turnover rose from £36.9m to £38.9m. Partners increasingly build their own business units of lawyers, paralegals and assistants, for which they take commercial responsibility.

Because most lawyers are consultants rather than employees, the employed core is small. The average number of people employed by the group, including directors, rose from 28 to 44.

Rankings across regions

In September 2026 the firm said it had 14 practice area rankings in the latest Legal 500 UK guide, up from 10 the year before, with 39 partners recognized across London, the South West, the South East, Yorkshire and Guernsey. “These rankings are a reflection of the calibre of our people and the quality of service they deliver to clients every day,” West said.

Its international network is also drawing recognition: Spencer West Cyprus is shortlisted for Law Firm of the Year in Cyprus at the Citywealth IFC Awards 2027. For owner-managed businesses and investors, the model offers senior lawyers in many towns and jurisdictions under one brand. In May 2026 the firm advised AMS Technologies AG on its acquisition of Bay Photonics.
