Evergreen’s Pine Services Group buys Sage partner Datel
A US buy-and-hold group takes over a Warrington Sage reseller with a 45-year history, as its founder steps aside and Stuart Morland becomes chief executive
- Datel was founded in 1981 and describes itself as the UK’s largest and longest-established Sage business partner
- It runs managed cloud hosting through Datel Advansys and integration software through Datel Fusion
- Pine bought Inixion, a UK Sage X3 and Sage Intacct consultancy, in December 2025
- Evergreen completed 47 acquisitions in 2025, 33 of them MSPs, it said in February 2026
Sage’s UK partner base is consolidating under owners with reach on both sides of the Atlantic. Rival Sage resellers face a competitor with patient capital to spend on hosting and integration, the services that keep ERP customers renewing. For founders of ERP practices weighing a sale, a permanent holder that keeps the brand is now a credible alternative to private equity with a fixed exit date.
“What makes this partnership so valuable is that it doesn’t change who we are”Stuart Morland, chief executive, Datel
Pine Services Group, the enterprise resource planning (ERP) holding company of US-based Evergreen, announced on 20 July 2026 that it has acquired Datel, a Sage partner with revenue of £40.6m in its 2025 financial year, up 8%, as reported by IT Channel Oxygen. No price was given.
Datel sells Sage software alongside consultancy, implementation, support, software development and systems integration to mid-market and enterprise organizations in manufacturing, distribution, insurance, finance and business services. Alvarez & Marsal acted for Alan Simpson, Datel’s founder and chairman, and Stuart Morland, its new chief executive, on the sale.
Evergreen says it holds the companies it buys indefinitely and runs them independently. Sage welcomed the deal, and Derk Bleeker, its chief commercial officer, pointed to the two firms’ customers across the US and UK. Datel says it plans to invest further in its people, services and technology platform.
