Hammer Distribution adds Acronis security and MSP tools to its range
The value-added distributor, which DCC Energy agreed in October to sell to One Equity Partners funds, takes on the vendor’s detection, GenAI and MSP management lines five days after Acronis named a new chief executive
- The range also includes Cyber Frame, which the release describes only as a new product for modern IT environments
- Hammer describes itself as a value-added distributor with more than 30 years in technology
- DCC Energy estimates net proceeds from the Nexora sale at $701m (£523m)
- Jager, Acronis’s previous chief executive, remains a shareholder
- The release gives no pricing or partner margin terms
Hammer’s partners can now source detection, email security and the tools that run an MSP’s own operations through one distributor and one vendor, which cuts the number of supplier contracts but ties more of the practice to a single platform. With Hammer carrying the onboarding and enablement work, a reseller adding managed security for the first time is likely to carry less of the start-up cost itself. If the sale of Hammer’s parent clears regulatory approval as planned, the distributor will have new owners within the program’s first year, under a vendor whose leadership has also just changed, and either could revisit the terms.
“Hammer’s channel expertise makes them a strong route to market for Acronis in the UK.”Jo Holliday, general manager, Acronis
Hammer Distribution announced a partnership with Acronis on 20 October 2026 that gives the distributor’s resellers and managed service providers access to the vendor’s security, GenAI and MSP operations tools. The deal took effect the same day, with onboarding, technical enablement and pipeline support from Hammer available from launch.
The security line covers endpoint detection and response (EDR), managed detection and response (MDR), extended detection and response (XDR), email security, security posture management, security awareness training and data loss prevention. Two GenAI products, GenAI Protection and Cyber Employee, are aimed at security operations. For running the MSP itself, Acronis supplies remote monitoring and management (RMM), professional services automation (PSA) and workflow automation. Dominic Ryles, director of cyber and cloud at Hammer, said the pairing gives partners an automated way to secure client businesses rather than only new products to sell.
Ownership and leadership change on both sides
In March Hammer signed a distribution agreement with Keepit, which backs up SaaS application data. Hammer is one of the businesses in Nexora, the name DCC Technology’s remaining operations have traded under since December 2025. On 9 October DCC Energy agreed to sell Nexora to investment subsidiaries of One Equity Partners funds at an enterprise value of $725m (£541m). The sale needs regulatory approval and is expected to complete on or after 1 March 2027.
Acronis changed chief executive on 15 October, appointing Prakash Panjwani, who previously ran WatchGuard Technologies and SafeNet, in place of Jan-Jaap Jager.
