Chainguard plans 200 roles and a London hub in $200m EMEA push
The open source security company will hire across engineering, sales and customer success, with a Clerkenwell office acting as the regional base for a remote-first workforce
- New office: 3 Herbal Hill, Clerkenwell, London
- Existing staff the office will serve: nearly 70, according to Chainguard
- Presence in EMEA since October 2023
- More than 800 customers globally, according to Chainguard
- Named a Leader in Gartner's first Magic Quadrant for Software Supply Chain Security, June 2026
A venture-backed US vendor building engineering, sales and customer success teams around a London hub adds a well-funded bidder for the security engineers and sellers that mid-market tech firms also try to hire. Because Chainguard recruits remote-first, that competition reaches candidates well beyond commuting distance of Clerkenwell. Putting customer success staff alongside sales in the region shows Chainguard building out support for EMEA accounts after the sale, not only winning them.
“We're putting $200 million, a London office, and 200 new roles behind them, so more organisations across EMEA can put an end to AI supply chain attacks.”Ian Burley, group vice-president, EMEA, Chainguard
Chainguard, a US company that supplies hardened open source software components, said on 20 October that it will add 200 roles across engineering, sales and customer success in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA), as part of $200m (£150m) of continued investment in the region.
The hiring comes with a new London office, which Chainguard describes as its EMEA hub. The company said the office will be a gathering place for the staff it already has in the country, as well as for customers, partners and the open source community. Chainguard says it is a remote-first company that hires close to customers in key markets. Its announcement does not say how many of the new roles will sit in London.
The company puts the expansion down to regional demand. Chainguard says its annual recurring revenue (ARR) in EMEA grew by more than 400% year on year and that its customer base in the region rose by 800% over the past 12 months. Both figures are its own. Regional customers it names include Aleph Alpha, Cato Networks and Siemens.
The build-out is led by Ian Burley, who joined earlier in 2026 as group vice-president, EMEA, to run regional go-to-market strategy and expansion. Burley has 20 years in B2B SaaS, at startups and at companies including Benchling, Snowflake and BMC Software. Chainguard said he has a record of building and scaling sales organizations.
Chainguard is valued at $3.5bn (£2.6bn), according to City AM. Its investors include Sequoia Capital, Lightspeed Venture Partners, Kleiner Perkins, IVP and Redpoint Ventures.
