Haven runs holiday home Wi-Fi at 27 parks over Vodafone 5G, not fiber

A holiday park operator has picked a mobile network over cables to connect every holiday home on 27 of its sites, a multi-site deployment of fixed wireless access sold through Vodafone’s business arm

The facts
  • Routers sit in every holiday home on the 27 parks, according to Vodafone
  • Each router connects over VodafoneThree’s 5G network, not a fixed line
  • The first parks upgraded under the 2024 deal were Primrose Valley, Kent Coast, Craig Tara, Caister-on-Sea and Hafan y Mor
What changes for customers

The holiday-home Wi-Fi at the 27 parks now rests on one mobile operator’s network. The release does not say whether Vodafone Business offers the same router set-up to other multi-site operators, or on what terms.

“This partnership delivers fast and reliable 5G WiFi straight to holiday homes, giving families the quality of service they expect, while helping Haven’s teams work efficiently behind the scenes.”Nick Gliddon, business director, VodafoneThree

Vodafone Business, the enterprise arm of VodafoneThree, said on 26 October that Haven has Wi-Fi routers in every holiday home across 27 of its parks. Each router reaches the internet over VodafoneThree’s 5G network rather than copper or fiber optic cables, a set-up the industry calls fixed wireless access.

Haven tested the service at two parks, Hafan y Mor in North Wales and Devon Cliffs, before rolling it out. The routers are the latest stage of a multi-million-pound deal that Haven, Vodafone and Freshwave, a neutral-host infrastructure company backed by DigitalBridge, announced in October 2024 to add dedicated 4G and 5G coverage at the parks and in nearby coastal communities.

At the time, Haven ran 41 parks across England, Scotland and Wales and said it expected more than 3.6 million holidaymakers in 2024. Simon Palethorpe, Haven’s chief executive, said the new service offers “home from home” Wi-Fi. The announcement gives no speeds, data allowances, price, router supplier or count of holiday homes covered, and ISPreview, which reported the roll-out on 28 October, published none either.
