Microsoft’s Dynamics 365 ERP agent connectors are generally available
Copilot Cowork and other agents get a supported route into ERP records, and partners now plan against a rolling roadmap instead of twice-yearly release waves
- Supplier Engagement, a workspace and supplier portal covering onboarding, quotes, purchase orders and invoicing, is in public preview.
- France e-invoicing and e-reporting support is generally available.
- Roadmap items with a preview or general availability date of 1 June 2026 or later move to the AI at Work roadmap, and Release Planner will be retired on 15 November 2026.
- Microsoft suggests customers replace the twice-yearly planning moment with a monthly or quarterly review.
Finance and operations leaders on Dynamics 365 can now pilot agents against live ERP data on a supported route rather than a custom build, which lowers the integration risk. The harder question is permissions: before any agent touches purchasing or invoicing, decide which security roles it inherits and who approves what it can do. Upgrade and testing calendars built around release waves will need redrawing, with someone on the ERP team named to own the roadmap.
“Security and trust are fundamental to agent deployment.”Sameer Verma, vice-president and chief product officer of Dynamics 365 AI ERP, Microsoft
Microsoft said on 23 September 2026 that the Dynamics 365 ERP plugin for Copilot Cowork and the Dynamics 365 ERP Model Context Protocol (MCP) server are generally available. Both let agents reason over and work with enterprise resource planning (ERP) data, actions and attachments, and Copilot answers link back to the underlying records.
Microsoft shared the news with partners at the first Directions for Enterprise event in Copenhagen, in a post that sets out what is new and coming to Dynamics 365 ERP through March 2027. That snapshot replaces the release plans partners are used to. On 25 August Microsoft said it was retiring the twice-yearly release wave 1 and wave 2 model. New capabilities now go on its AI at Work roadmap once plans are committed, and there is no September 2026 release wave 2 plan. Microsoft says the change affects how it communicates what is coming, not how products are built or released.
Next come business skills: reusable process definitions that ERP agents follow, with access governed by Dynamics 365 security roles. Microsoft plans its own skills for processes such as procure-to-pay, and new role-based controls that limit what a user can do when working through Copilot Cowork or agents. A separate Dynamics 365 Commerce MCP server is in public preview.
