Pigment raises $250m at a $2.3bn valuation to build planning agents
The Paris-based business planning company, which competes with Anaplan and Excel, will put the money into its compute engine and agents meant to run planning cycles end to end
- Annual recurring revenue passed $100m (£75m) in 2026, roughly doubling year on year, Pigment says
- Pigment says 85% of new metrics on its platform are created by an agent
- 84% of Pigment accounts use its AI features every week, according to the company
- Customers named by Pigment include Unilever, Snowflake and Siemens
For finance directors choosing between a dedicated planning platform and spreadsheets, a challenger with fresh capital lowers one supplier risk: whether a younger vendor keeps investing in its product. Pigment tells existing customers to expect more advanced features and a faster platform.
“The vision we’re working toward is autonomous planning: AI builds the forecast, runs the scenarios, updates the plan, and then executes, all within the guardrails your team sets.”Eléonore Crespo, co-founder and co-chief executive, Pigment
Pigment, the Paris-based business planning software company, announced a $250m (£187m) Series E round at a $2.3bn (£1.7bn) valuation on 21 October. The Scaleup Europe Fund, managed by EQT, led the round, and Nvidia plans to invest.
World Innovation Lab joined existing investors Greenoaks, Iconiq, IVP and Meritech. Pigment last raised in 2024, a $145m (£109m) Series D led by Iconiq. Its software puts budgets, forecasts, sales targets and headcount plans in one shared model, and Tech.eu lists Microsoft Excel, SAP, IBM and Anaplan as its competitors.
Agents on one governed model
Eléonore Crespo and Romain Niccoli, the co-founders and co-chief executives, set out the plan in a company blog post: faster research and development and a larger engineering team. Pigment says it has shipped more than 50 AI capabilities in nine months, led by the Modeler Agent, which builds planning models from plain-language instructions. A Planner Agent comes next.
Both sit on Graphite, the company’s patent-pending compute engine, which Pigment says lets thousands of people and agents work on a single model at the same time. L’Oréal is replacing its salary planning tool with Pigment for more than 95,000 employees, according to the company.
