Mukesh Gupta co-founded e92plus in 1989 and runs it as chief executive. The Surbiton-based company started out selling Ethernet cards and moved into cybersecurity distribution when that market commoditized. Its vendors now include Trend Micro, Forcepoint, Bitdefender, Cloudflare, Proofpoint and Tanium, and it has teams serving Ireland and the Benelux as well as the UK. e92plus describes itself as Northern Europe’s leading independent cybersecurity value-added distributor (VAD).

Growth in 2024

Turnover rose 12.5% to £73.7m in 2024, according to accounts filed at Companies House, and £69.2m of that was earned in the UK. Profit after tax edged up to £1.65m, and average headcount rose from 51 to 56. The company says it won the CRN Distributor of the Year award in the under-£100m category in both 2024 and 2025.

Picking the next vendors

In May 2025 Gupta launched e92spark, a separate division for early-stage cyber vendors. At the launch he described “our advice and expertise on what the next big thing in cybersecurity will be” as a key part of what e92plus offers partners. Scalefusion was the division’s launch signing in July 2025. LinkShadow, which sells network, data and identity threat detection, followed in July 2026. The core business kept adding names too: LastPass in October 2025, EfficientIP for DNS security in February 2026, and an expanded ZeroFox deal in April 2026 that offers the vendor’s external threat protection to e92plus’s managed security partners across the UK, Ireland and the Benelux.

An employee trust takes control

In September 2024, as the company turned 35, Gupta told IT Channel Oxygen that, despite approaches, he enjoyed the job too much to sell. On 29 October 2024 an employee ownership trust took control. The 2024 accounts name E92 Plus Trustee Limited, as trustee of the E92 Plus Employee Ownership Trust, as the ultimate controlling party, with 51% of the group. Companies House lists Gupta as a person with significant control holding between 25% and 50% of the operating company’s shares. The trust keeps e92plus out of a rival’s hands and gives it a succession route that does not depend on a trade sale.

Why it matters to the channel

For resellers and MSPs, an independent cyber VAD is one that can take on small, unproven vendors that broadline distributors won’t carry yet, which is the point of e92spark.

Gupta has built e92plus into an employee-controlled cyber distributor with its own route for new vendors. Picking those vendors has been his job for 37 years, and it remains the company’s main asset.
