Zoho brings its payroll software to PAYE employers from £5 a month
The new edition files pay data to HMRC and posts journals straight into Zoho Books, putting payroll in the same suite as the company’s accounting and expenses software
- Monthly billing: £7.50 per organization a month, plus £1.50 per extra employee
- Trial: 14 days, with no card details required, Zoho says
- Licensing: one license per legal entity; branches of the same entity share one
- Footprint: the 10th edition of Zoho Payroll, after India, the US, the GCC and Canada
- Company: more than 19,000 staff and over 55 apps, according to FinTech Global
Businesses that already keep their accounts in Zoho can now run payroll with the same vendor, with journals reaching the ledger without an export from a separate payroll provider. For those firms, payroll becomes a further subscription with a supplier they already pay, rather than a separate vendor relationship. It also places payroll records, pension data and the filing trail with the supplier that already holds the books.
“Payroll is a critical component of the employee experience”Prashant Ganti, vice-president of global product strategy, finance and operations business unit, Zoho
Zoho has launched an edition of Zoho Payroll for employers that pay staff through PAYE, announced on 19 October, with a single plan priced at £5 per organization a month on annual billing. That price includes five employees, and each extra employee adds £1 a month.
Zoho says the software calculates PAYE and National Insurance on every pay run, generates the Full Payment Submission for each run and submits the Employer Payment Summary to HMRC when one is required. Its product page lists pension auto-enrolment, opt-outs and re-enrolment, along with statutory payments such as sick and maternity pay and student loan deductions. Pay runs can be weekly, fortnightly or monthly.
The product connects to Zoho Books, where Zoho says payroll journal entries are posted automatically after each pay run, and to Zoho Expense, which according to Financial IT pays approved expenses alongside salary. Financial IT also reported that an integration with Zoho People is planned. Employees reach payslips and pension details through a self-service portal on web and mobile, where Zia, the company’s AI assistant, answers questions about pay.
Zoho is pitching the launch at the cost of getting pay wrong. It cited research by Finity in which 89% of payroll professionals said they had encountered payment errors over the previous year and 38% said problems came up monthly, as reported by FinTech Global. Prashant Ganti, vice-president of global product strategy, finance and operations business unit at Zoho, tied the launch to the employee experience in comments carried by the same outlet.
