Xero

Xero makes cloud accounting software for small businesses and for the accountants and bookkeepers who work with them. Its platform covers bookkeeping, invoicing, bill payments, payroll, expenses and tax filing, and connects to more than 1,000 third-party apps. Its AI assistant, JAX, reconciles bank transactions, captures data from documents and answers questions about a business’s finances. In 2026 Xero added integrations with Anthropic’s Claude and Microsoft 365 Copilot, and a tool for building AI agents without code.

The company was founded in Wellington, New Zealand, in 2006 and is listed on the Australian Securities Exchange. Sukhinder Singh Cassidy has been chief executive since 2023. In October 2025 it bought Melio, a US bill payment business, for an upfront US$2.5bn. In the year to 31 March 2026 it reported operating revenue of NZ$2.75bn, up 31%, and in July 2026 it said it served 5 million customers in more than 180 countries.

The UK is its second-largest market by revenue. It had 1.32 million UK customers at the end of March 2026, and UK revenue rose 26% to NZ$727m. Its UK headquarters are in Milton Keynes, with offices in London and Manchester, and it works with UK accountants and bookkeepers through its partner programme. Its software is recognised by HMRC for Making Tax Digital, including the phase for income tax that began in April 2026.
