Where technology leaders come to think out loud

CityFibre opens business broadband across its whole network

Small firms, home offices and remote workers anywhere on CityFibre’s network can now buy symmetrical business-grade fiber through its reseller partners, not only in business districts

The facts
  • CityFibre calls itself the UK’s largest independent full fiber platform.
  • It promises business fix times of less than eight hours.
  • Giacom says about 6,000 MSPs and resellers use its Cloud Market platform.
  • CityFibre says construction is under way to reach up to 8 million homes.
What changes for customers

Small offices and home-based staff in CityFibre areas gain a business-grade alternative to Openreach-based broadband. Buyers should ask their provider whether a CityFibre business line is available at each address, including staff homes, and compare its repair terms and upload speeds with dedicated Ethernet before renewing. Check also which party carries the service agreement, since the wholesaler’s promises reach the customer only through the reseller’s contract.

“There are hundreds of thousands of small businesses across CityFibre’s network and we’re designing the Multi-Gig, ultra-reliable products they need to innovate and grow.”Andy Nash, director, business, government and mobile, CityFibre

CityFibre made its business fiber-to-the-premises (FTTP) services available across its full footprint of more than 4.5 million premises on 20 January 2026, with symmetrical wholesale speeds of up to 2.5Gbps sold through reseller partners.

CityFibre plans a wider choice of install points, including connections run directly to a home office, and says faster speeds will follow. Giacom, one of its partners, said the change opens residential as well as business postcodes to the resellers that buy through its Cloud Market platform.

The move rests on CityFibre’s 10Gb network upgrade, the same work that let it triple dedicated Ethernet availability from 80,000 to more than 260,000 UK businesses in June 2025. CityFibre says that drove more than 50% year-on-year growth in its Ethernet business in 2025. At the time, it said its Ethernet prices were up to 20% below major competitors, and earlier that month it had unveiled a 5.5Gbps wholesale broadband product it described as over three times faster than Openreach’s fastest 1.8Gbps service.
