Digital Space promotes Wendy Broughton to chief sales officer

The private equity-backed MSP says it doubled its sales team in a year and built a separate new-business unit. Broughton's job now is to turn that into new logos

The facts
  • Digital Space sells connectivity, cloud and infrastructure, customer experience, cybersecurity and managed IT services to private and public sector customers.
  • Graphite Capital puts Digital Space's addressable IT managed services market at £58bn.
  • Stewart Holness is executive chairman of Digital Space.
  • Broughton says the sales organization now has a healthy pipeline, a claim the company has not quantified.
What it means for partners

Nearly four years after Graphite's investment, a bigger sales team with a dedicated hunter unit looks like an MSP building a new-logo growth story, the kind of number that tends to matter when a private equity owner weighs its options. For rival mid-market MSPs chasing organizations of 250 to 5,000 staff, expect a more aggressive competitor in bids. Putting vendor relationships inside the sales structure also suggests vendor partner teams will deal with one commercial owner at Digital Space rather than several.

“She has brought clarity, energy and commercial discipline to our sales organisation, while building the team and structure we need to deliver our growth ambitions.”Stewart Holness, executive chairman, Digital Space

Digital Space, a UK managed service provider, promoted Wendy Broughton to chief sales officer on 16 September. She joined in 2023 to lead its corporate sales team and already sits on the executive board.

The company says that over the past year it doubled the size of its sales team and created a dedicated new-business function. It also pulled account management, business development, sales development and sales operations into one go-to-market organization, lined up more closely with pre-sales, product, marketing and vendor relationships. Broughton's remit is new-logo acquisition and turning those wins into long-term accounts. Before Digital Space she led enterprise sales at Apple reseller Jigsaw24 and held senior sales roles at Daisy Corporate Services.

Its operating company, Digital Space Managed Services, was named Timico Managed Services until 30 June 2021, according to Companies House; the same company was earlier Atos IT Outsourcing Services and Xerox IT Services. Private equity firm Graphite Capital backed Digital Space in November 2022. Graphite describes Digital Space as running its own core network and network operations center, selling connectivity, security and hybrid cloud to organizations with 250 to 5,000 staff.

Holness's comment quoted here comes from the release text that Technology Reseller published in full on 16 September. Digital Space's own news page carries a shorter, differently worded version. Neither gives revenue, headcount or pipeline figures.
