IBM buys UK defense security consultancy Logiq Consulting
The consultancy, assured by the National Cyber Security Centre, brings Secure by Design work and a government data-sharing platform into IBM’s UK business. For partners chasing defense and government contracts, a big rival just got more specialist

UK MSSPs and security integrators that bid for defense, CNI and government work now face an IBM that can offer NCSC-assured assurance and Secure by Design services in-house, alongside SiXworks’ delivery teams. Partners that have supplied that specialist layer as subcontractors on IBM-led programs may find less of it sent their way, and may meet Logiq’s former team on the other side of competitive tenders. Smaller specialists should sharpen what a global integrator struggles to match: the same assurance credentials at lower rates, faster mobilization and independence from any single prime. Suppliers that use DISX to exchange data with government customers should ask IBM now whether its pricing and roadmap will change under new ownership.

IBM’s UK business has bought Logiq Consulting, a cybersecurity consultancy assured by the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC), it announced on 24 September. IBM did not disclose what it paid.
Logiq works for defense suppliers, critical national infrastructure (CNI) operators and the wider public sector. Alongside its consulting work, it built and runs DISX, a managed platform that IBM describes as sovereign, which government suppliers use to exchange sensitive information with UK government and defense bodies.
The deal follows IBM’s purchase in July 2024 of SiXworks, a consultancy that works with the Ministry of Defence. IBM presents Logiq as a complement to SiXworks’ defense and public-sector transformation work.
IBM gave no headcount, revenue or customer figures for Logiq, so the scale of what it has bought is not yet clear.
