Meta opens an enterprise AI arm with MongoDB’s chief executive in charge
Chirantan Desai reports straight to Mark Zuckerberg and names four products, no pricing and no word on partners. MongoDB has handed the job back to Dev Ittycheria while it searches for a successor

Meta joins Microsoft, Google and Amazon in selling AI to the enterprise, and its launch names no partner program, no distributor and no price. Its business relationships run through advertising and self-serve tools, and Desai’s brief is to turn a technology stack into products, so the first route to market is likely to be direct and API-led. For UK resellers that means nothing to resell yet.
The near-term opening is services: integration, security review and governance around the Muse API and Muse Code for clients that already run their customer contact through Meta’s platforms. Partners that build that practice now will be first in line if Meta does write a program.

Meta set up a new business unit on 28 September to sell its AI models, agents and infrastructure to companies, and hired the chief executive of MongoDB to run it. Meta Enterprise Platform is led by Chirantan “CJ” Desai as chief enterprise platform officer, reporting directly to Mark Zuckerberg. It names four products, with more promised: the Muse agent, Meta Business Agent, the Muse API and Muse Code.
Zuckerberg calls the unit “the next major pillar of our business” and says it will draw on Meta’s models, agents and infrastructure and on its years of working with businesses. The announcement gives no prices, no availability dates and no word on partners, resellers or cloud marketplaces. Desai says the unit will package Meta’s AI stack into products and services for companies to run themselves. Before MongoDB he ran product and engineering at Cloudflare and spent nearly eight years at ServiceNow, latterly as president and chief operating officer.
MongoDB turns to its former chief
MongoDB announced Desai’s departure the same day, effective immediately, and named Dev Ittycheria interim president and chief executive. Ittycheria ran the company for 11 years before stepping down in 2025 and has stayed on the board since. The board has retained an executive search firm to find a permanent successor and said the business is strong. Investors were less sure: MongoDB shares fell by more than 17% after the news, as reported by TechCrunch.
